Read this note01 / Why build
A base is part of the care.
A consultation in a remote village begins long before a patient is seen. Medicines must be stored safely. Diagnostic materials must be prepared. Community health workers need training and follow-up. Vehicles, water systems and field equipment must be ready before teams leave. Rumah Kambera is the infrastructure behind that work.
Since 2020, our medical and social programmes in East Sumba have expanded beyond the capacity of the rented Rumah Kambera base. Storage is insufficient, the pharmacy and technical areas are unsuitable, and there is no proper training or laboratory environment.
On the permanent site in Kawangu, the new centre will bring medical care, a secure pharmacy, a small laboratory, community-health training, field logistics, water, energy and coordination together in one operational base. It is not a hospital or an administrative headquarters. It is the infrastructure that helps care reach remote communities.
02 / Inside the centre
One centre. Six practical functions.
Rumah Kambera is being built around work that already happens every day: care, diagnostics, training, medical preparation, technical operations and the coordination needed to reach remote communities.
PHASE 03 · FIRST BUILDING
Care, pharmacy & diagnostics
A small clinical area, secure pharmacy, laboratory and medical storage space for diagnostic work and field preparation. This first building is the next construction phase, and it is not yet fully funded.
Training & community learning
Classrooms and practical learning spaces for Kawan Sehat health agents, prevention programmes, continuing education and community health training.
Medical storage & field logistics
Medicines, diagnostic materials, medical bags and essential supplies stored, checked and prepared for repeated missions to isolated villages.
Workshop & technical operations
Preparation and maintenance of water, solar and field equipment, pumps, vehicles and technical material used across rural programmes.
Coordination & knowledge
Working space for programme coordination, documentation, medical protocols, a library and collaboration with local and visiting technical partners.
Essential living infrastructure
Water, sanitation, solar energy, a community kitchen and simple accommodation for medical teams, trainers, volunteers and invited partners working with the Foundation.

ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT
Explore the future centre
These visualisations show both the long-term architectural concept for Rumah Kambera and the first building phase now being prepared: medical care, diagnostics, pharmacy, workshop spaces, coordination and the practical infrastructure needed to make them work.

03 / The work already exists
The building comes after the work.
Rumah Kambera will not create our medical and social programmes. It will give them a safer, more reliable place to work from. Community health agents, nurses, doctors and field teams are already caring for people across East Sumba every month.
The centre is being designed around needs we already meet in the field: medicines, diagnostics, training, referrals, clean water, technical preparation and reliable logistics.
These figures describe the foundation’s current Primary Medical Care programme. They are not projections for the future centre. See the medical programme
04 / Building in phases
We are building what we can, in the order the work needs it.
The full Rumah Kambera centre is far from funded. We chose to build in phases so that each step is useful, permanent and financially responsible. Even the next phase — the first socio-medical building — is not yet fully financed.

Permanent land acquired in Kawangu: 4,200 m².
Perimeter wall, land levelling, topographic studies and site preparation. About IDR 300 million — approximately CHF 15,000 — was spent on the wall and levelling.
First socio-medical building: secure pharmacy, small laboratory, clinical space, medical storage and field logistics, together with parking and a toilet block. Funding is still incomplete.
Training and learning spaces, office and library, workshop, community kitchen, amphitheatre, accommodation for volunteers and visiting partners, and the remaining centre infrastructure.
We will continue only as funds become available. The immediate priority is to finance and build Phase 03 so the pharmacy, laboratory, clinical space, medical storage, field preparation, parking and toilet block can move from plan to working infrastructure.
CURRENT SITE / RECENT WORKS
A construction site that changes week by week.

THE SITE / KAWANGU, EAST SUMBA
The project has an address. The work reaches much farther.
Rumah Kambera is being built on our permanent 4,200 m² site in Kawangu, East Sumba. This is where medicines will be stored safely, health workers trained, diagnostics prepared and field missions organised before teams leave for remote communities.
The map places the project in the real geography that shapes our work. In many of the communities we serve, distance, difficult access and limited health infrastructure still influence how quickly people can reach care.
This is where the teams will prepare before the road begins.

Rumah Kambera Ground Levelling Moves Forward
We ordered another 30 truckloads of sirtu for Rumah Kambera. Two full days of spreading in around 38°C heat, with a hired Hitachi mini excavator, have left roughly 35–40% of the site levelled. This…

Plans, progress and money should be open to scrutiny.
The architectural drawings show how Rumah Kambera is intended to function as a permanent community socio-medical and logistics base in East Sumba. They represent a working concept, not a completed building.

The project dossier sets out the medical rationale, the planned spaces, the technical concept and the indicative budget. We publish what is planned, what is built, what changes and what still needs to be financed. Dates matter: scope, costs and priorities may evolve during design and construction.
06 / FINANCE & TRANSPARENCY
Money should be as visible as the construction.
This is a public summary of the Rumah Kambera project ledger. It separates money received, money already paid, costs committed but not yet paid, and the balance still available for the project. Donor identities, supplier names, receipts and internal notes remain private unless publication has been explicitly authorised.
Ledger updated · 5 November 2026 · 35 entries recordedPAID COSTS BY CONSTRUCTION PHASE
Its final working budget is still being consolidated. We prefer not to publish a fundraising target until the construction scope and costing are sufficiently reliable.
Amounts displayed above are rounded to the nearest CHF. Available balance is calculated from recorded donations, paid expenses and committed costs; it is not a verified bank account balance. Original currencies remain in the internal ledger, while this public summary uses the recorded CHF equivalent of each transaction. The project register complements, but does not replace, Fair Future Foundation’s statutory accounts and annual reporting.
07 / PARTNERS, SUPPORTERS & INSTITUTIONAL RELATIONS
This project is not being built alone.
Rumah Kambera is moving forward because organisations, public institutions and individual donors choose to stand behind practical work in East Sumba.
Some partners bring technical knowledge, construction capacity, energy systems or field collaboration. Others provide financial support. One Swiss foundation supporting the project has asked to remain anonymous, and many private donors contribute quietly too — often with gifts from around CHF 100 to CHF 5,000.
Not every logo below represents a financial donor. Some are organisations and institutions we work with because a community socio-medical centre can only function through cooperation, trust and shared responsibility.
This is not a complete list. Other organisations, foundations, friends and private donors support Fair Future Foundation and its programmes, sometimes publicly and sometimes without asking to be named.
08 / Funding & support
Help build what the teams need next.
Rumah Kambera is being built in phases because the full centre is not yet financed. Even the next construction phase is still missing part of the funding required to complete it.
WHAT WE NEED NOW
Phase 03: the first socio-medical building.
This is the part we hope to begin next. It concentrates the functions the medical and field teams need most urgently.
The amphitheatre, office, library, community kitchen, workshop and accommodation for volunteers and visiting partners remain future phases and are not yet funded.
Current construction priority · September 2026
Why this matters
Rumah Kambera is not the programme. It is the infrastructure that allows the programme to work better, safer and farther.
A functioning pharmacy, laboratory, clinical area and medical store will give the teams a permanent place to prepare care before travelling to villages where access to health services remains difficult.
Every contribution goes through Fair Future Foundation’s established donation system and helps move the next practical part of the project from plan to construction.
