The first architectural concept for Rumah Kambera

On 20 February 2026, we shared the first architectural concept for the new Rumah Kambera socio-medical base in Kawangu, East Sumba. Our existing rented premises had become too small and unsuitable for the growing medical, social and logistical work. Having secured land for a permanent centre, we began translating operational needs into an initial site plan.

The preliminary concept brought together a community and medical unit, pharmacy, equipment storage, workshop, accommodation, kitchen, library, gardens and water infrastructure around a central courtyard. At this stage these were proposed functions and drawings, not buildings already constructed. The plans would continue to evolve with technical studies and available funding.
